Get ready for AFL 23 – at home and away!
A new AFL game is on its way, and it’s set to kick goals not long after the real thing gets underway this year.
AFL 23 is the name of this year's model, and it comes from Aussie sporting game developer legends Big Ant.
The first footy game to grace the latest generation of consoles, we’re promised “the most authentic video game football experience to date”, and it’s set to be stacked with options.
Both AFL and AFLW will feature, including the entire player rosters from across all 18 teams and up-to-date stats from Champion Data. Up to four players will be able to get into the action locally or online, too. Plus, cross-play!
A bunch of work has gone into the AI, including collaboration with AFL coaches, to have players respond much as they would on the field in real life.
If you’re more of a behind the scenes person, then the Management Career mode might be your thing, whereby you’ll aim to make yours the most powerful club in the AFL, overseeing drafting, player development, and more.
Don’t have a favourite team? Create your own! Bespoke clubs, players, and stadiums will all able to be made from the ground up, and will be able to be shared worldwide online.
AFL game commentary has made for some added fun in past footy games, and wowee if this one isn’t set to do the same, with Anthony Hudson, Hamish McLachlan, Daniel Harford, Kelli Underwood, and Jason Bennett all drafted in to give us the play by play.
It's set to be a big year in footy, and now even if our team isn't performing out there in the real world, with AFL 23 we'll be able to add that special sauce to make them perform like champs in the virtual world.
