Another biopic movie is on its way to our screens, with Big George Foreman looking into the life of the heavy-hitting boxing legend.
The tale of the former heavyweight champion and comeback king may also be going for a record for longest movie title, with the full enchilada being Big George Foreman: The Miraculous Story of the Once and Future Heavyweight Champion of the World. Borat and Harley Quinn, the gauntlet has been thrown down!
Naturally the movie is based on the many real-life exploits of the big guy, and here’s the official sizzle: “Fuelled by an impoverished childhood, Foreman channelled his anger into becoming an Olympic Gold medallist and World Heavyweight Champion, followed by a near-death experience that took him from the boxing ring to the pulpit. But when he sees his community struggling spiritually and financially, Foreman returns to the ring and makes history by reclaiming his title, becoming the oldest and most improbable World Heavyweight Boxing Champion ever.”
The Hate U Give director George Tillman Jr. both cowrote and directed the tale, which stars Khris Davis (TV’s Atlanta) as the boxing great. The supporting cast includes Jasmine Mathews, Sullivan Jones, Lawrence Gilliard Jr., John Magaro, Sonja Sohn, and the rather wonderful Forest Whitaker.
Big George Foreman is currently scheduled to hit Australian screens from May 25. Check out some of the action to come in this new trailer – and yes, the famous grill does rate a mention:
