Life comes full circle in the first teaser trailer for Disney's 'Mufasa: The Lion King', the upcoming prequel to the 2019 remake.
When director Jon Favreau's The Lion King arrived in 2019, critics were quick to point out that it certainly wasn't as "live-action" as it was made out to be. So with that in mind, the company has tweaked their terminology to present the upcoming prequel as being "photorealistic animation".

The 2016 movie was a blockbuster hit, amassing a whopping $1.663 billion at the global box office, which naturally meant that a sequel, or a prequel - or in this case, both - was inevitable.
Barry Jenkins, director of Moonlight (2016), helms the prequel, which will focus on Mufasa's rise to power in the Pride Lands as recounted by Rafiki, the mandrill, narrating the story to Mufasa's granddaughter Kiara.
English actor Aaron Pierre (Krypton) will star in the titular role with Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, and John Kani reprising their roles of Simba, Pumbaa, Timon, and Rifiki, respectively.

Mufasa: The Lion King is currently set for a December 19 Australian cinema release.
