Kate Bush runs up that Rock & Roll Hall of Fame hill; 2023 inductees announced!
The English singer-songwriter-producer is one of seven performer inductees for the year, with special honours going to several other artists.
She joins country icon and enquirer of whether you're strong enough to be her man Sheryl Crow, deadset Queen of Rap Missy Elliott, Highwayman and folk legend Willie Nelson, 'we're not talking about the dishwasher' rap-metallers Rage Against the Machine, blues five-piece and shame-shaders The Spinners, and a posthumous curtsey to the late, great George Michael.
The Musical Influence Awards go to the pioneer of breakbeat DJ Cool Herc and distortion godfather Link Wray, while the Musical Excellence Awards went to ain't-nobody-loves-her-better pop luminary Chaka Khan, manager-producer-musician extraordinaire Al Kooper, and co-author of all your favourite cheesy piano-driven songs, Bernie Taupin.
The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the tail end of the year, on November 3, at Brooklyn's Barclays Center.
The chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, John Sykes, said in a statement: “This year’s incredible group of inductees reflects the diverse artists and sounds that define rock’n’roll. We are honored that this November’s induction ceremony in New York will coincide with two milestones in music culture; the 90th birthday of Willie Nelson and the 50th Anniversary of the birth of hip-hop.”
