Dyson's first bluetooth-enabled Airwrap multi-styler recommends and automates a personalised curling routine according to your hair and styling profile with I.D. Curl (via the My Dyson app).
So, what’s the difference between the Dyson Airwrap and Airwrap i.d.?
The Dyson Airwrap i.d. has a key difference that sets it apart from its predecessor, the Dyson Airwrap – and other stylers on the market. So if you’re looking to upgrade, here’s why you should.
The original Dyson Airwrap has been a blessing for anyone with difficult hair – it curls, straightens and styles without getting as hot as other stylers, and its sheer versatility has made it a permanent fixture of many bathroom cabinets.
The new Dyson Airwrap i.d. looks, from the outside, almost identical, and functions in more-or-less the same way as the Airwrap, but with one huge difference that fundamentally changes the way you'll use it: connectivity.

Set-and-forget styling
The Airwrap i.d. is the first multi-styler on the market with Bluetooth connectivity. You can pair the device with the MyDyson app on your phone and then use it to guide yourself through a personalised styling process based on the nature of your hair and how you want it to look.
By answering questions on the app you can create a ‘hair profile’ that will take some of the learning curve out of using the Airwrap i.d. effectively.
The Airwrap i.d. features a new switch on the barrel called i.d. Curl. When you flip it on, the Airwrap i.d. will launch an automated routine based on your hair profile – it wraps, curls, and gives you a cold shot cycle with timing specific to your profile.
You'll get the perfect curl for your hair without needing to trial-and-error your way through the process. You can adjust your settings on the app if you make changes to your hair, which takes any awkward guesswork out of the equation.

Extra attachments
Both the Airwrap and Airwrap i.d. come with multiple attachments: a 40mm long barrel, dryer + flyaway smoother, soft-smoothing brush, and filter cleaning brush.
However, the Airwrap i.d. also includes three all-new attachments: a conical barrel that styles close to the hair root for stronger curl definition; a large round volumising brush that can add more body and volume to hair and help to maintain its shape; and a fast dryer.
The bottom line
Aside from the above, not much has changed – the Airwrap i.d. is the exact same dimensions, has the same heat and speed settings, and the same airflow as its predecessor. But the new connectivity features really streamline how you'll use it.

If you're looking to buy an Airwrap, the i.d. is where it’s at, as Dyson has discontinued the previous model in Australia.
The Airwrap has long been considered the best hair styling tool on the market, and the i.d. is its best iteration to date. It's not a complete overhaul, but Bluetooth connectivity and personal hair profiles makes it easier than ever to create perfect curls.
