If you’re serious about your gaming, this new keyboard from Logitech G packs everything that you need to be at the top of your game - and all in the smallest Logitech G keyboard yet. Plus, it comes with input from hundreds of esports champs.

Just because it’s small – around 60% the size of a full keyboard with numeric keyboard – doesn’t mean that you miss out. Well, unless you’re an accountant. It packs all the full-sized keys that you need to compete, and saves on space all round, whether you’re taking it with you, or have limited desk space at home.

As Logitech expects you to take it with you, the PRO X 60 is built tough to handle anything from being hurled into a backpack to the most heated gaming sessions – it even comes with a very sturdy zip-up carrying case for added protection.

When you first crack open the box, that carrying case is what you encounter. Jet black and built like a tank, it really looks like it means business. Unzipping it, the star attraction is revealed. Whether you opt for white, hot pink, or the more traditional black, the case also contains a dongle, a lengthy (1.8 metre) USB-A to USB-C cable, and some documentation. Oh, and there’s a colour-matched ‘ESC’ key if you don’t fancy the flash white Logitech G key that sits up at top left.

The feeling of durability extends to the keycaps, which are double shot (two pieces of plastic are moulded together for each key to deliver added strength) and made from PBT - that's Polybutylene Terephthalate if you want to get technical. Their hardiness - and heat and wear resistance - is renowned and should last for many a battle for years to come. The keys themselves also offer a satisfying tactile experience from their optical switches, making some noise without being overly noisy.

Strength is one key thing, but a gaming keyboard also needs to deliver reliability. Here we get a choice of wireless or USB-cabled connection. The wireless connectivity comes either via Bluetooth or by using Logitech’s patented 2.4GHz LIGHTSPEED dongle, which promises an impressive 1ms response time. Both are easy to connect with, and the LIGHTSPEED option is handy if you also have a compatible mouse, as you can run both devices via the one adaptor.

A battery life of up to 65 hours on a single charge should be more than enough to get you through even the most record-challenging competition without needing to plug in for a top-up.

Some like their keyboards lit up, others don’t. Logitech G delivers the best of both worlds here, with RGB backlighting that can go through all manner of amazing patterns, or simply be keyed to a single, solid colour to light your key pressing way. You can custom program your own settings, too, via Logitech’s free G-HUB software, right down to each individual key. While the letters, numbers, and such light up, the function controls – including media keys – that are marked on the front of the keys do not.

Looking around the PRO X 60, you’ll find a selection of handy extra controls. At the rear, there are buttons for selecting wireless or Bluetooth connection and a power switch. At the right, there is a brilliant game mode button, which turns off keys that get in the way while gaming, such as the one marked Windows. At the left, there is a volume roller. There’s also a handy USB dongle storage slot on the bottom.

Staying underneath, in use, you have a choice between flat on the desk, or bringing two hinged feet into action. The PRO X 60 has a certain heft without being what we’d call weighty, so enthusiastic play may have it wandering a little under your hands.

The Logitech G PRO X 60 is one serious unit designed specifically to deliver bulletproof reliability for gamers, no matter how they choose to play. If you’re serious about your esports, then it may be one of the best gaming investments that you make.
