What exciting new games are on the horizon from Ubisoft?

It’s that wonderful time of the year that is game showcase season, and Ubisoft have just held their shindig, unveiling some top titles that we can’t wait to get our hands on, including their epic new Star Wars game.

Which is a great place to kick off this roundup of the hottest of the hot…

Star Wars Outlaws

Coming in 2024

Ubisoft’s first foray into Star Wars is set to be a big affair, being the first open-world adventure to be set in the George Lucas-created world. It’s going to deliver us an original story that’s set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

Here’s the pitch: “As the Galactic Empire relentlessly pursues the final defeat of the Rebel Alliance, the criminal underworld thrives. Fans will play as cunning scoundrel, Kay Vess, brought to life by Humberly González, and her loyal companion Nix, played by Dee Bradley Baker (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), as they attempt one of the greatest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen. Seeking the means to start a new life, players will join Kay and Nix as they fight, steal, and outwit their way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates and join the galaxy’s most wanted.”

A pleasingly deep gameplay walkthrough has been unveiled, so set aside almost 11 minutes and check it out:

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Coming October 12

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be set in ninth-century Baghdad, right at the peak of its Golden Age. Billed as a tribute to the earlier games in the Assassin's Creed series, it's set to be more of a narrative-driven adventure, stripping out many of the RPG-styled elements that have been a part of more recent outings. So, that means a focus on parkour, stealth, and assassinations via a new hero named Basim Ibn Is’haq, who's described as being "a singular street thief with a mysterious past".

Here’s a new look at the gameplay:

The Crew Motorfest

Coming September 14

It’s a car culture-packed festival that promises to let players “fulfill their ultimate action driving bucket list”. This will be achieved via various bespoke races, themed events, and other challenges, available to hit solo or with your crew. The setting for this automotive mayhem is the picturesque island of O‘ahu, in the Hawaiian archipelago, where players will race everywhere from the city streets of Honolulu and on through volcanic slopes, lush rainforest, twisting mountain roads and, of course, those beautiful sunny beaches.

Here's a brief but fun look at gameplay, featuring in-game footage of both offroad and on-road racing:

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

Coming December 7

Set after events of the first Avatar movie, this huge open-world action-adventure is set in the never-before-seen Western Frontier of Pandora and will see us playing as a child of two worlds, born Na’vi but raised by the RDA. The story continues: “Fifteen years later, you are free, but find yourself a stranger in your birthplace. Reconnect with your lost heritage, discover what it truly means to be Na’vi, and join other clans to protect Pandora from the RDA.”
