5 tips for creating a fun outdoor movie night

If you have fond memories of going to the drive-in, or just want some fresh air while you watch your favourite flicks, here are our top tips for having an ace night at the movies outdoors, with a portable projector.

1. Choose a location – the backyard, by the pool, on the deck – and get the blankets and seating sorted. You can set up an ad hoc screen using a bed sheet or white painted board, or use a dedicated portable screen.

2. Choose a movie to match – Jaws for by the pool, Close Encounters or E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial for under the stars, and maybe Friday the 13th or The Blair Witch Project for a camping trip.

3. Keep an esky filled with drinks and snacks within easy reach – and don’t forget the mozzie repellent!

4. Recreate the drive-in experience – park in the driveway, attach a sheet to the garage door, throw a Bluetooth speaker in the back, and you’re good to go. Blast the horn and flash your lights during the best bits!

5. Get creative with some shadow puppetry in the projector’s beam. It’s tradition, after all.
