Following a brief teaser a while back, we now have a full trailer for Pixar’s upcoming original tale Elemental, and it's looking very much like a spin on the classic "opposites attract" styled romcom.
The movie revolves around Element City, where “where fire, water, land and air residents live together“. In this trailer, we're introduced to all elements via a series of wonderful gag-inducing puns, as well as the tale of two opposites – Ember and Wade – who are attracted, despite their obvious fiery and watery incompatibilities.
Here’s the official word: “The story introduces Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.”
The voice cast includes Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie, as Ember and Wade respectively, as well as Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, and Joe Pera.
A passion project, it’s been directed by Peter Sohn, who last sat in the big chair for The Good Dinosaur.
It’s a fascinating-looking world full of characters that reminds us somewhat of one of Pixar’s finest outings, Inside Out. Check out the new trailer just below, and the entire movie when it opens in Australian cinemas from June 15.
