The long, long, long-awaited movie take on video game shooter ‘Borderlands’ is finally edging closer to release, and to prove it, we now have a trailer for it!
With the bloke behind Cabin Fever and The House with a Clock in its Walls, Eli Roth, directing we’ve been pretty excited for this one. It’s also been on our radar because of the casting…
Proving that she just can’t be pigeonholed, Cate Blanchett goes full-on action heroine as the flame-haired Lilith, while Jamie Lee Curtis plays archaeologist Dr. Patricia Tannis. Kevin Hart is also onboard as vault hunter Roland, and Jack Black gives voice to robot buddy Claptrap.
If those stars that we’ve just namedropped aren't enough, Borderlands will also feature Edgar Ramírez as Atlas, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, Olivier Richters as Krom, Janina Gavankar as Commander Knoxx, Gina Gershon as Mad Moxxi, Florian Munteanu as Krieg, Cheyenne Jackson as Jakobs, Charles Babalola as Hammerlock, Benjamin Byron Davis as Marcus, Steven Boyer as Scooter, Ryann Redmond as Ellie, and Bobby Lee as Larry.

As for story, here’s the official sizzle: “Lilith, an infamous bounty hunter with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home, Pandora, the most chaotic planet in the galaxy. Her mission is to find the missing daughter of Atlas, the universe’s most powerful S.O.B.
“Lilith forms an unexpected alliance with a ragtag team of misfits – Roland, a seasoned mercenary on a mission; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound protector; Tannis, the oddball scientist who’s seen it all; and Claptrap, a wiseass robot.
“Together, these unlikely heroes must battle an alien species and dangerous bandits to uncover one of Pandora’s most explosive secrets. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”
Borderlands is currently set to explode into Aussie cinemas from August 9. Now, here’s our first trailer-shaped taste of it, soundtracked by ELO's rockin' take on Do Ya:
