Age shall not weary the magnificent Michael Caine, with him teaming up with another British screen great in Glenda Jackson for the upcoming The Great Escaper.

Based on a true story, it’s the first time that the pair have teamed up since The Romantic Englishwoman 47 years ago, and is sadly the last screen outing for Jackson, who passed away in June.

The movie is set to tell the tale “of octogenarian Bernard Jordan’s escape from his care home to attend the 70th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in France. In the summer of 2014, he made global headlines after staging this 'great escape' to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy, commemorating their fallen comrades.”

BAFTA-nominated Oliver Parker (An Ideal Husband) directs, while the script was penned by another BAFTA-nominee, William Ivory, who gave us 2010's brilliant Made in Dagenham.

The Great Escaper is coming to Australian cinemas later this year, and if this trailer is anything to go by, then it may be worth packing a hanky:
