Legendary 1980s manga series Saint Seiya has received a movie adaptation that’s set to be with us later this year, in the form of Knights of the Zodiac.
An exciting tale of gods and their protectors – more specifically, the deity in question is Athena – this big screen adaptation goes big on the effects and hopefully big on faithfulness to the original.
Here’s the official story: “Seiya, a headstrong street teen, spends his time fighting for cash while he searches for his abducted sister. When one of his fights unwittingly taps into mystical powers that he never knew he had, Seiya finds himself thrust into a world of warring saints, ancient magical training, and a reincarnated goddess who needs his protection. If he’s to survive, he will need to embrace his destiny and sacrifice everything to take his rightful place among the Knights of the Zodiac.”
From Polish director Tomek Baginski, who was involved with the series adaptation of video game The Witcher, Knights of the Zodiac stars Mackenyu, Famke Janssen, Madison Iseman, Diego Tinoco, Mark Dacascos, Nick Stahl, and Sean Bean.
Set for a May release overseas, while we await confirmation of an Australian cinema date, a first trailer has been released - and here it is:
