‘It’ star Bill Skarsgård plays the kind-of good guy in wild-looking upcoming bloodbath ‘Boy Kills World’. Raimi liked what he saw of it in its early stages so much that he bought the company. Well, he bought into the production…

Skarsgård stars as a character named "Boy". He “vows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy, the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf, and voiceless.

“Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favourite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman to become an instrument of death and is set loose on the eve of the annual culling of dissidents. Bedlam ensues as Boy commits bloody martial arts mayhem, inciting a wrath of carnage and bloodletting. As he tries to get his bearings in this delirious realm, Boy soon falls in with a desperate resistance group, all the while bickering with the apparent ghost of his rebellious little sister.”

If that story doesn’t hook you, then you’re obviously not a fan of blood-spattered action craziness with a sense of levity neatly woven in. If you watch the trailer that's down this very page a little, it’s easy to see why Raimi – Mr Evil Dead himself – got on board.

As well as Skarsgård, the cast includes Jessica Rothe, Famke Janssen, Brett Gelman, Andrew Koji, Sharlto Copley, Michelle Dockery, and Isaiah Mustafa, while Boy’s inner voice is supplied by the Bob of TV’s Bob’s Burgers, H. Jon Benjamin.

Boy Kills World is releasing in late April overseas. While we await confirmation of the Aussie unleashing date, here’s the trailer:
