The simplicity of Chrome OS
Chrome OS is the speedy, simple and secure operating system from Google that powers every Chromebook. It’s a cloud-based OS, so the Chromebook itself doesn’t have the hardware bloat of a traditional laptop. A Chromebook is therefore a simpler device to meet your everyday computing needs. You can also find touchscreen-enabled Chromebooks, and there are plenty of form factors to choose from – all built on the premise of simple set-up, and for work and play on-the-go.
Ready for school
Chromebooks are great for students because they easily slip into a school bag or backpack without adding a lot of weight, they tend to have at least all-school-day battery life, and they’re ready to use in about the time it takes to crack open a notebook and prep a pen.
You set up a Chromebook with a Google account. On log in you’ll find your Google Drive files and preferences for the Chromebook. An extensive range of apps are available – from note-taking to presentation-making and everything in between – and all manner of school assignments are covered.
Google’s range of productivity apps such as Gmail, Docs, Meet, and Sheets are at your fingertips, plus many apps you may choose to use for work and play are available on Chromebook.
You can select Microsoft Office (subscription required), get creative with apps like Adobe Lightroom, and kick back with apps like Netflix – or your favourite game.
Secure to the core
Chrome OS updates automatically. Along with built-in virus protection, your Chromebook is safe and secure, you don’t need to install third-party security software.
There are additional layers of security. For example, Sandboxing ensures different software are kept separate. That way, even if one part gets infected, the rest is designed to stay safe.
The Chromebook also undergoes a Verified Boot every time it starts up – a rigorous and seamless security check-up in the background that prevents malware.
And every Chromebook has a built-in security chip to encrypt your most sensitive data.
